Finished a couple of weeks ago. No deer this year. But a great starting point for future hunts.

Finally moved. Just getting settled in now. House is still full of boxes. :) I got here too late for archery elk or deer. I do have an antlerless elk and doe pronghorn tag. Probably be using a rifle for those. I just don't know what I'm doing yet to go out with the bow.

I may pay the 154.00 for a NR trapping license and trap some this fall and winter. I figure that's a good way to figure out the critters and mountains. But I think I need a different vehicle. Like an atv. My choices right now are a PriusV (good gas mileage... but 2wd and has 5.75" ground clearance :D , a 2500hd Silverado 4x4 (not the best on the skinny trails and uses oodles of gas) or a Mitsubishi endeavor (which is my husband's and he would not be happy if I put some stinky dead things in it).

Alberta, in The Edmonton Bow Zone, 3 hours from the mountains though. Do a lot of camping in them though, just don't hunt them as gas is huge for me up here @ $4.80 a gallon, That's why I bow hunt ,so I can hunt close to home and it don't hurt the pocket book to bad. When did they start this thread?

Another from western Washington checking in.

I'm in Montana this morning heading in to Jackson Wyoming and then into the Gros Ventre Wilderness tomorrow for my first ever bow hunt. Hopefully the elk will be very vocal and I can slip in there.

Carp, what kind of preparations do you put in for your hunts? I was sorely out of shape and unprepared got the challenge of bow hunting and an trying to get a start for next year, since the only thing left for me to hunt this year is coyotes and birds.

I love to duck hunt. That's what I am waiting for now.

Im 51 So I try to keep in shape the whole year. Its easier for me that way. This year I wasn't in as good as shape as in years past and I felt it. But I was still able to get out and hit it hard. I do live at the base of the mountains so I can hike up and get my elk legs going every year. Of course I shoot heavy in April and thru the hunt.
