Bad, really bad. With the mild or non existent winter most of the country has seen, this is going to be a tick year like we've never seen before. Permethrin guys, lots of it!

I agree....good luck with the treatment. I tested positive in '05 and was treated (luckily) within about 2 weeks of developing symptoms. Everyone says that you need to look for the "bullseye" at the site of the bite. Wrong...I never developed the "bullseye", but tested positive with a blood titer test. I have a coworker who did not get treated for months and now has numerous health issues.

Never had the bullseye in my case either. Nearly died, definitely wanted to at times.

I bet loss of blood was the killer in that snake.

I was lucky and got the bullseye right away. The meds made me feel like crap but at least I knew.

I hate ticks and am not a fan of snakes. That picture is nasty.

I had Lyme disease three times and Erlichiosis once. I treat my clothes with SAWYER (permethrin) and bought some Elmintick clothing that is treated with the same stuff.
One of the cases I had never showed a bullseye either. I just started feeling sick, high fever, aches lethargy. I now have some heart issues that I think are lnked to Lyme.

The ticks in my neck of the woods seem to go in cycles. At times there are lots of them and at other times there are none.

I've been working in the woods for the last 10 weekends and have not seen a tick. Heck, I've only seen 2 mosquito's!

Gnats, on the other hand are quite plentiful. Haven't used any bug spray yet. I believe that this situation is due to the dry spell we're having. But ticks...... non existent here.

How did you know you had symptoms?
Thus past spring i had a Rick on my stomach after fishing but never had any marks.
But lately i feel like crap
Head aches, can't sleep, heart beat had been a little unusual.
But i thought out all had to do with my back issues

I've found a dog tick on my headliner the day after a hunt in norther FL but not many down here.

How do you know if you've been bitten? Are they attached to your body and you have to really work them off?

I always wear long sleave, tight fitting shirts and glove even when I'm just working the properties. I'd rather be hot than have anything crawling on me.

Your'e fortunate to not have them in your area. Yes, they'll be attached, sucking away on your blood. Most times you won't know there even there.
The proper way to remove them is with tweezers. Grab em as close to the skin as possible, and slowly pull it off.
    Nasty creatures!
