A couple buddies and I got the idea to celebrate the end of the semester with a hunting trip. We decided on giving spot and stalk hunting a go, it would be the first time for all of us.

The first day he got multiple groups bedded down and anticipated a fun morning. Before we could start the first stalk on a group of nine muleys a coyote came through the area and pushed them out. As they ran up he hill and stood on the horizon, we realized two of them were beautiful bucks that just slipped away. The next group we had bedded was three does, we did manage to get to 45 yards but the brush in front of them didnt allow a shot.

That day freezing rain filled the sky, making the day old snow incredibly crunchy and loud. This pretty much killed the rest of our weekend, as getting close to anything bedded was unlikely. It was a shame too, as we had a lot of groups bed for us that would have set up textbook stalk situations.

All in all, it was a great trip. It was a good learning experience and we saw some new country. We figured we saw about 100 deer in the three days of sun up till sun down hunting. It is a trip we will definitely try in the future, just maybe a different time of year.

Here are some pics from the weekend.

If you can afford to go on hunting trips, then you can afford something better that Busch beer. Lol. Looks like a fun hunt.
