Thoughts on Baiting Deer

More big bucks are killed over bait then most really know, and it's by some big named hunters also.

Hunt and be happy, it really is that simple. If someone wants a hard hunt, I believe they will be opening up the Arctic soon, have at it.

Thats what I say Germ....If its legal, who cares how someone else hunts.

i have hunted with and without baited areas. If you are going to use corn i think a feeder with set time and amount of displacement is the way to go . At least that way the amount on the ground is controlled and the deer will not be going to the buffet duringthe night . Watch out for the bears if they are in your area, the will pig out on whatever you put out.

I swear my son's kindergarten class is more mature than you people some times. The guy asked a question and was looking for serious feedback. The thread started out great and then goes down hill quick when some dudes try making it a wiener contest.

Honestly I bait here in OH but dont hunt over my bait. I simply use it to keep deer on my property and off my neighbors who shoot anything. This year has been my most productive for baiting but gun season will be the test. Hoping they push some more big guys over.

I feed corn and other yummy treats for my deer in several locations on my property. Primarily I do this to hold deer and provide them with suplemental food. My results are as follows. it holds deer on my property. I see mostly does and young bucks on my feeders for most of the year, However once the rut is in full swing I find suddenly 95% of my pics become mature bucks. Many of which I have no previous pictures of. At this point my pics of does almost stop and now I am only monitering bucks. Are most of my pics at night? YES But once I know when the big boy is on my side of the fence it lets me know its time to be at said place at said time, and if you've done your home work and know where that particular place is likely to be... Well you will most likely be able to harvest that deer.

I use bait for doe hunting and found out over the last couple of years the BIG boys wont come near it.
