How to become a better shot

Any tips in how I can improve my accuracy? I can hit a soccer ball at 100 yards but at 30 and 40 yards I lack all consistency. I don't know what to do

Do the same thing you do at 100 maybe? If you can hit a soccer ball consistently at 100' you should be able to hit a baseball at 40 and a golf ball at 20 pretty consistently.

I think I know what it is. In lacrosse I'm better at long range goals because I know I have to focus more then I get cocky and think close shots are too easy and I don't focus, could it be that?

Treat every shot like your shooting at a monster buck. I used to be the same way until i made myself slow down and not just go out and shoot my bow just to shoot. i would make myself mentally go through the motions of shooting my bow and then actually do it.

I would say there is a great chance of that. I have had days were my grounds at 50 and 60 were better that 30...go figure!

A couple things I forgot to mention. Well, just plain didn't.

Drop your shoulder: Your bow arm shoulder. This helps keep your bow arm steady.

50/50 draw: push with your bow Hand the same amount of pressure you pull with your draw hand.

Focus on the spot you want to hit. The exact small spot.

They're called trolls because they throw obviously inflammatory comments or comments aimed to elicit a certain response out and troll for responders to toy with. i.e. how rediculous of a question can I get someone to take the time to answer thoughtfully.

One issue that may affect you at close ranges is chasing your arrow. What I mean by that is that because you are close enough to see your previous hit you may be subconciously trying to hard to hit as close to that arrow as possible and allowing your form to suffer because you are concentrating on that instead of absolute consistency with your form. On a target as far as 100 yards away you wouldn't see exactly where you hit intl you go revover your arrows, therefore you would have nothing influencing you to do anything other than make every shot feel the exact same to you. I could be way off, but I see this type of thing all the time when teaching rifle marksmanship to new soldiers.
