    Oklahoma Hunters

I was out all day on Monday and Tuesday and saw a lot of movement. What I'm confused about is the fact that I saw two groups of does with several fawns still with them. I had a small 8 walk past them and not even pay attention. Saw several bucks but no chasing or rut kind of action. They would not pay attention to my Tinks #69 does estrus, doe calls or grunts. Is this strange? Any other Oklahoma hunters seeing better action than I am?

I don't know what specific part of Oklahoma NW Oklohama puts you in, but I hunt in Wheeler and Collingsworth County of Texas right on Oklahoma border and I-40.

Our rut always comes later than that north of us and south as well. Not sure why, but it is documented fact with TPWD. While obviously it varies somewhat from year to year, in general, our rut is going to fall between Nov 20 and Dec 10.

I have not seen any rut activity yet as well but it could kick in any day now.

Ok thanks, I need to look for some online resources. Last year it seemed like early December. I'm hunting in Tulsa, Wagoner, and Beggs.

I'm kind of seeing the same thing. Monday I shot a 10 point. He chased a doe all over before coming into the stand. Grunting the entire time. I sore the rut was on, but now I'm not so sure. I've seen much more movement this week but none of the deer respond to grunts or bleats. I have rattled in a couple small bucks. A huge buck I've been watching came crusing by this morning, I could not get him to stop. I've just located the first fresh rub and scrape on Tuesday. I think things are on the rise.

I hunt NE OK as well, i'm in Delaware County, extreme NE OK. I've seen quite a few chasing, but i've called, nothing, rattled, nothing. Yesterday I only saw one, and to top it all off, gun starts today! I think this morning and Sunday will be the best to be in a tree that we've seen in Okla so far. Good Luck to you.

It's amazing how much the rut can vary within just a couple hundred miles. Up here in KS we saw the chasing / fighting start to get crazy about two weeks ago. We now have does in estrous which has seemed to slow the action down a bit as many of the mature bucks are now doe'd up. I expect to see it pick back up aroung thanksgiving as the first round of hot does begins to slow.
