lighted nock question

I bought some easton lighted nock yesterday. They look a lot bigger then the nocks that were in my arrows originaly. Will the weight change the way my arrows will fly or should i have some new arrows made up with the lighted nocks installed by a pro? I took one shot last night in the dark. I totally missed the target and want to blame me for bad form{im new shooter} but im thinking it could be the nocks too. Thanks

I doubt missing the target is due to you installing lighted knocks. However, lighted nocks will change the point of impact. Consider adding tip weight if you had a light FOC to begin with.

Depending on where the magnet is installed. That could also pull your arrow off the rest.

Ahhhhhh, yes..... I knew there was a reason why I had never purchased those lighted nocks.

Follow the manufactures instructions. Make sure the magnet does not pass or is nowhere near your tip at full draw. May result in needing a longer arrow.

I have seen some of the magnets installed on the riser next to the rest and when at full draw it will pull your arrow tip off the rest and to the magnet resulting in a miss. The magnet needs to be below the rest and your arrow needs to long enough where the tip isn't near the magnet. I am not a fan of the design.

I've used them in the past and I never noticed the magnet being strong enough to affect the arrow flight. Especially considering the tip is atleast 1" from the magnet.

So now I know 1 person who hasn't had any problems with them and 5 people that have. Just something for the OP to look for.

I didn't say I didn't have problems with them. Just no issues with the magnet.

Magnets? I've only had one set but there were no magnets. Is this normal or a thing of the past? (I've only used the burt coyote, do nockturnals use a magnet?)
Adding 10 grains or so to the rear of your arrow will have a small impact, in my opion.
When I built new arrows I put some steel shot and super glue in my knock to make is 20 grains, the same a s nockturnal. Therefore when I go to switch them, there's no difference in weight.
Carbon express uses a collar along with their nocks. That's actually a fantastic idea on their part. If you add the weight of both together it's almost the same as a lighted nock.

Magnets plus a rage result a missed deer.
2009 I used tracers and rage bh's
I Drew back and my bh suck to the magnet the pin that holds the blades is metal and was in just the right spot to get stuck. I did have the magnet on my riser also. Luckily I saw it and never released the arrow.

IMO, Nockturnals are the way to go. Cost effective and as about fail proof as you can get in a lighted nock.

Speaking of which. Please PM me if anyone has any old ones that no longer work that they are willing to part with. I need them for my practice arrows. .246 shaft (Gold Tip)

Lighted nocks will not generally cause you to miss the target. If you are using an Easton Tracer nock, these are activated by passing by a magnet. I have seen the magnet cause the arrow to pull off the rest and have also seen the fletchings bump the magnet on its way past. Generally lighted nocks weigh 14-20+ grains and shouldnt cause your arrow to fly to far from normal from my experience.

I just weighted all my nocks to the same as nockturnals.
