I have decided to get a climbing stand and was wondering some that are good but still fairly inexpensive $100-140

    I'm cheap but I don't trust a cheap stand.

I don't even think cheap stands are that cheap.

A cheap climbing stand is not the same as using a cheap hangon which is most likely not going to be moved during the season. Buy the best climbing stand you can afford............and in my opinion there are no top climbing stands for $100-$140.

If you're going to buy a stand that cheap, do one of two things. Don't, or check your local classified for a good used one that you can look at before you buy. As others have mentioned, finding a climber for $150 isn't going to get you anything new that is decent. I don't honestly know if there is a single stand out there for that price.

Like mentioned as well, climbers are not like hang ons. They're more involved and more expensive as a result.

Spend the money and go with an XOP. Not top price but great quality at the inbetween price. I got the XOP sit and climb for $220. Awesome climber!

100-140 would have to be used. I know a couple weeks ago Cabela's had a Muddy climber on sale for 149.99 but I am not sure if it still is on sale.

I agree with everyone above. You're not going to get a "good" or even cheap climber for that price. Think about it...you're up 10-35 feet, do you want something cheap holding your life? Get a Summit Viper and be done with it.

I have since bought a more expensive climbing tree stand that is lighter and easier to carry, but my first climber was one that goes for $90 brand new on ebay with free shipping. I did not know it was that cheap when I got it as a gift, but I climbed in it for 10 years with no issues at all. I do agree with buy the best you can afford, but I think there are options out there for under $100. Just use your safety systems and all should be fine.

I use every safety system that I can get and then hope and pray that I never need them so I don't try and get myself in a position that I NEED to use them!

When I was 16, I rode a motorcycle and stopped in at the local body shop to show off the new "cheap" helmet that I had just bought. One of the body guys looked at the helmet and took a hammer and put a hole in it with no problem and then asked me....................

    "what's your head worth?"

Cheap climber is probably going to be steel. You can pick up a good used aluminum Summit climber for what you're looking to spend on a new cheap climber. Just something to think about.

I'm looking at the XOP Strike Force. It's a hand climber that is going for $200 on Field Supply. I would spend a little more and get that or the Enforcer.
