I got some guide gear brand stands from sportsmansguide.com very reasonable price. They dont have the bells and whistle like the high end ones but they get the job done on a budget. Only thing ill say is dont get the smallest one it is just too small IMO.
I like the LW. Yes they are high. I hunted yesterday in a stand covered in ice. After I knocked the ice of the platform it was as quiet as normal. They are very versatile and easy to hang.
I don't know about the bells and whistles, but the Lone Wolf Assault has handled my needs nicely when a hang-on was the only option.
Then I definitely recommend Lone Wolf. I use the Assault but most seem to prefer the Alpha due to the bigger platform. I hike a long ways sometimes and like the lighter weight.
Lonewolf if mobile. Millennium if semi permanent on private. And el cheapo's if you hang them on public ground as I do.
Go to sportsman's guide. I got two for $30 and the ladders are $40. It's probably the best deal out there and I haven't been disappointed yet by them.
Millenium M100u is a great hang-on stand and it only weighs 11.5 like the Lone Wolf. Difference.....the Millenium is the Most Comfortable stand you will EVER sit in!
I have a Muddy and love it for all day sits. it weighs 12lb and cost a little less then a LW. The only thing I dislike about mine is the back straps.
Lone Wolf or XOP are your best bet for mobility, designed by a master of mobile hunting. Can't go wrong with the design.
Line wolf has $50 of right now online. Or you can order by phone for combo with stand, 4 climbing sticks, and stick quiver. With shipping it's like $407. I Just ordered and am a little nervous. Have never seen a LW stand, putting my faith in the reviews on this site.
The stand is only 18lbs... if that's not light enough then you have some problems. He should be able to easily put up and take down one of those with a set of light weight climbing sticks. A hang on for $33 plus shipping is a great deal and I've had one out for years and there's not one problem with it. So if he taking the stand down after a sit or two it should be well worth the money.
Biggest issue is how they pack in. And those ratchet straps can be a pain at times. The stands that are intended for run and gun setups are designed to be easy, quick, and quiet. You couldn't pay me enough to set up one of those cheap stands as much as I setup my Lone Wolf. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You should be able to replace the ratchets for something else if you want. My stand has nylon washers all through it and is as quiet as can be.
I'm glad they work for you! I'll stick with my Lone Wolf. I do use those cheap stands to leave up in some spots year round. Rather those get stolen then my LW. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They serve their purpose for me. I plan on getting a rivers edge, muddy or a big game stand next. I like the guide gear stands because for the money you can't beat them but I've always been a big game trees and fan and would love another.
