Sounds like the problem isn't the H1-B1 program, but the abuse of it by disney. Don't blame the tool, blame the operator.

FYI-The L1 visa is similar to the H1, except there are not quotas on the number of candidates (and they are even cheaper). A potential loophole if a candidate takes a position on a specific visa v a broader immigration POV.

Actually it's pretty much anyone elected.

I guess that makes Ted Cruz a socialist, he supports it, lol

I think Sota is calling you a socialist for being against true laissez faire capitalism.

Not that I'm a supporter of the H1b1 program...or a socialist. But in the truest sense of the free market capitalist concept; let the market decide, right?

The people who are being replaced. They have elected representatives they can contact, if no one complains then why would anything be done about it?

Proper immigration is great but allowing people to buy their way in is wrong.

Who would you rather have move into our country, somebody with education and means to buy their way in, or somebody smuggled in by a coyote that has no education, no means to support themselves taking jobs that other under educated americans can do?

Living in the socialist state of Vermont, I see what refugees and what the H1B1 program is doing. (my daughter is a teacher and has 7 different languages spoken in her classroom, each with their own personal translator)

I absolutely do want the educated class coming here BUT just because someone has money doesn't make them a good citizen or fit for America. The immigration system is broken but just letting them buy their way in isn't the answer.

Sort of like the messed up insurance/health care system being totally screwed up by Obamacare.

Somebody with eduction and money that come as an immigrant is far less likely to be involved in crime, I would take my chances with that group over the current border crossers any day.

Corporations that are successful make money that is the mission, that is why the owners risk capital to make more money. People seem to think that it is the corporations job to maintain employees cradle to grave. Replacement by a younger, more skilled, cheaper option is a fact of life it is what drives growth. Yeah it sucks to lose your job, whinning and saying it's not fair throwing a pity party is not going to help pick yourself up and move on.

And if it happen to you? Take a look at Disney, they are making money. It's easy to sit in the cheap seats and say, "stop whinning", a lot of these people worked hard, how would any of us feel having to train our replacements?

Technically they don't have to. They are being offered a severance bonus to stick around and train the new workers.... Ruthless and bad PR for Disney, but no one forces ANYONE to do anything in that system.

It's a tough world out there. My field is dealing with the same thing (granted I'm part of the young incoming wave and not part of the people who have had it made for a while now).

I'm not educated enough on the Visa issue to comment on whether I'm for or against it to be honest.

Technically? What would you do? I am sure they have families to feed, house payments etc. It's easy to dismiss this because it's not happening to you. This is just plain wrong, I wish more would stand and fight for what's right, anyone remember when we use to fight for what was right?

Germ we re going to have to agree to disagree, Disney is obligated to the shareholders it is called capitalism not socialism. It is very common after implementation of large scale projects, the employees were paid to develop the system, why would you pay a designer to do O & M at a designers price.
