Hey guys, need some advice on a nocturnal buck. I live in Michigan where there is lots of pressure on the deer here. I know because gun season has started many deer have gone nocturnal. I have about a 130 class 8pt that comes out every night about 2hrs after dark. Is there any way at all that I can alternate his pattern to come out earlier? Or do I just have to wait until its cold enough to make him move? Thanks
Short of somebody walking through and kicking him out of his bedding there is little I know of you can do to change their schedule. Pray for a change of weather to get him moving. If you are able to setup closer to its bedding area you may get a shot earlier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't over hunt the spot. Get close to his bed and wait for the perfect conditions to hunt him like a cold front. Good luck.
if you can get closer to his bedding do so. This weekend cold front might be a good chance for him to get up a little earlier. I know we are expecting snow here. But like said don't over hunt that area
You need to move. Get closer to his bedding area. Windy days are really good for sneaking into their bedroom.
Do you know the exact location of his bed? If so, go as close as you can possibly get without busting him out. This may be 150 yards, maybe 50 yards depending on conditions and topography. It may take you a couple hours to cover the last couple hundred yards, but be completely silent and move in close.
I agree 100%, but it has to be a wind you can count on for being consistent. Obviously, with the right direction. A swirling wind will get you caught every time.
You can go all in and get very aggressive in your approach. Trying to sneak into his bedroom, using a decoy, rattling etc etc. Another approach would be to leave him alone and focus your energy on a deer you have a better chance of killing.
