Anyone using a Montana decoy. I was thinking about getting one next year. I was wondering if it was worth the money.

Never used a Montana Decoy but I do have some experience with Tink's Miss November. I purchased this inflatable decoy 2 years ago and got really pumped that it would bring all the boys to the yard! In reality all it did is scare the **** out of anything that got close enough to see it. I was so mad I damn near shot it, decided it would be better off as a target for my kids and their nerf guns
and its been in my basement ever since.

Regarding Tink's Miss November, deer are not that stupid, it doesn't even look close to anything natural. That aside, I have had more bad experiences than good with a doe decoy, but I do use a buck decoy a lot. Does tend to freak out when they see a doe decoy, unless it is accompanied by a buck decoy.

Bucks almost always approach a doe decoy from downwind and that's a recipe for failure. Bucks almost always approach a buck decoy head on so you can use that to your advantage. That's my $.02 on the matter.

I have a Montana Decoy turkey decoy and it's awesome. Not much help I know, but figured I'd share my limited experience with the company.

I have Montana turkey dekes and I am currently doing product reviews on two different deer decoys somewhat similar to the Montana's..... jury is still out on that though. Biggest issue I see thus far is wind, here in KS you can almost bet on it and that style deke doesn't play well with much more than a slight breeze, something to consider. No doubt dekes are effective...

I would imagine dekes are effective in areas with lower deer population? I would not want to set one up get in the stand and watch a dozen does snort at and avoid the area in front of my stand.

I have had HUGE success using the Phantom HD buck decoy.. when I got it sent to me I was like " this ain't gonna work, but I'll try it" then that day had 5 bucks come into it.. shot a 129" buck , next year shot a nice 120" plus buck, last year shot a cool racked buck over it and this year shot brutus over the decoy

    it works, flat out

Do you use it in a field or open area?

I've tried 2 different decoys, the flambeau boss buck and my shooter 3D archery target. I would honestly recommend using a realistic looking 3D target, mine works as a doe or a buck, light weight and easy to carry. iv had several does walk right up to it, and a few small bucks, never had a big guy around to see it but it seems to draw in everything else. Just my 2 cents.

I killed a 159 inch Kansas buck over a Primos Scarface decoy a few years ago. I sprayed the deke with scent killer and put a couple of drops of buck urine (taken from a real deer a few days prior) under the tail. I faced the deer quartering to me and up wind a bit. The buck came in and circled down wind and from the side. I shot him at 20 yards. I used it between two wooded areas in a small clearing. After I rattled, the buck showed up and when he saw the decoy he almost sprinted in to have a look.
