I finally got a shot at one of my trail cam bucks. I have pics of this buck on 3 different days 2 weeks apart. He came by at 6:49AM Saturday morning following a doe and I lowered the boom on him! He ran maybe 100 yrds after I got his lungs. He has a basic 8pt frame with a 3pt dropper on him. Don't be bummed (I'm not), but he fell to my CB. He's my best Public land buck yet. I'll see if I can get Rocky to post the pics for me, as my Manage Attachments isn't working properly.
He was about 15' from the base of my tree. I had a doe come running right past me and he was following her. After she went past me he just stopped right under me! For whatever reason, he looked right up at me! I was at 25' with a perfect WSW wind, so I can't figure that one out, but he saw no threat and looked ahead at the doe. That's when I knew it was time to squeeze. This all happened in about 20 seconds and I honestly don't think I would have had the time to react to this situation with my compound. I only waited a half hour to trail him, as I knew I blew through the boiler room. It took a bit for the blood to show (maybe 40yrds) because of no exit, but I knew it would. Then it was steady and all over the place, he went maybe 150yrds. A public land hunt I won't forget.
