Sitting in my tree stand this morning and like any other day, the does and small bucks start piling out of the bedding area (10-12) of them standing in winter wheat. I've payed to lease this woods for bow hunting only for 3 years. Daylight breaks and I hear shots go off everywhere from within my woods.
I hightail it out of my stand and start looking for people. I come across a teenager and 3 other adult men. I ask them what they're doing here. They tell me they've had permission to hunt this woods for "years". I call BS on them and tell them not anymore. Showed them my lease and told them to leave.
They told me my lease didn't mean S*** to them and that I should leave.
I called the landowner and he said he gave him permission 10 years ago and the guy never left and never asked permission again or had contact with the landowner.
The landowner told him not to come back. The fella told both of us that "we haven't heard the last of him"
I end up getting his license plate number and called the game warden.
The game warden pulled him over later this morning. The guy had 4 un-tagged deer in his truck, non-deer legal firearms, and marijuana.
Apparently we have seen the last of him got taken away for a couple previous poaching infractions plus all the stuff that happened today.

I have a few less hot does in the woods now, but justice has prevailed.
Thanks to the DNR Officer and a little quick thinking by yours truly.

Thanks for listening to my eventful morning.

Man that sucks but at the same time glad he got busted and maybe now you can relax a little more and know you don't have to worry about him. Good job. I hate trespassers!

Glad you followed through. Maybe it will slow them down for a while. We don't need anymore poachers in Indiana!

My main concern is the fact that if they had messed something up, it would have been my fault. Yes, it has improved my relationship with the landowner. I take a doe for him to put in his freezer every year.

I will be carrying my pistol in the woods with me from now on. I will be taking no chances.

Some people just don't want to put in the hours to reap excellent benefits.
