The University just sent this e-mail basically telling all students to call the police if someone says something hurtful to them. This is horrifying.
Unfortunately the wussification of kids and feminizing men away from masculinity has been going on since after WW2, according to my great uncle who watched it happen. He always warned us about it. It's even worse now with everyone trying to play victim and the political correctness carousel. It's truly sad.
Saying something hurtful to someone without threats is not a criminal act, therefore I do not understand why the police force is opening itself up to this type of bs. Hell my dad said about 12,345 hurtful things to me growing up...I should have called the cops!
My 10 year old daughter and wife were at MU on Saturday for a girl scouts event and they were terrorized by the ConcernedStudent1950 group. While trying to eat in the cafeteria, they lined up and blocked people from getting to the food (keep in mind there were not only students of MU in there but a couple girl scout troops) and were yelling and chanting. Needless to say many of the girls decided to leave early, effectively ruining that trip that was supposed to be about science.
No none at all according to my wife. At least in the cafeteria. I'm sure there was police presence in other places. They eventually left and said to the girl scouts "continue your white washed curriculum"
Many of those who mob and chant don't even care a single bit about the cause. They just want to be part of the crowd and stand for something. Kids are too afraid (and taught not) to stand for what they believe in anymore because their taught what they should believe in and thus they fall for anything. It's the lemming mentality. And VS, you're right it sucks the police weren't there to put a stop to it but police are in fear of doing their job anymore because of the backlash they get from the media and social media. Unfortunately they are often punished by perception rather than the actual facts.
In a nutshell this is the reason for the Missouri stuff. 1) A student political leader was verbally harassed while he walked on a sidewalk 2) A person smeared feces in the shape of a swastika 3) They felt the leaders at the school didn't respond quickly and properly I can't tell you how many times growing up I was called, "you dumb white mother *******, cracker, and all kinds of racial names. Did I enlist others to stop playing football and or going to school? No, I kept my head down and kept grinding.
These videos sum up everything right now This video is just great. People trying to shout down a student reporter from trying to report about something happening in the middle of the on campus Quad saying they just want privacy And this video...well I want to hug this professor so hard. The exchanges he has with the students are truly frightening though, especially this one: Prof: "I stand behind free speech" Student: "but what if it is offends me?!" Seriously?!
What cracks me up about my generation being blamed for the way society is today... it's the generation above us that raised us who made it the way it is.... 24 year olds aren't in power. 40-60 year olds are. They are the ones changing laws. Making new rules. Changing starbucks cups. Creating this apparent apocalypse. I doubt much comes of this program at Mizzou other than annoyed cops who eventually look for jobs elsewhere lol.
I'm not blaming my generation or any generation. I think that a lot of this has to do with that we, as a society, have it so good and easy, that a lot of people feel the need to go around looking for some type of fight. We don't have some major cause to fight for or against, so we go around looking for things to be offended over. And when people give in to those, it just sets a horrible precedent. I do believe that these SJW or BLM or whatevers are creating their own demise though. The only reaction for society to push back on this is to go ultra conservative. The push back is going to happen. And I'm glad that most of the internet (even Reddit) have watched the 2 videos that I linked above and agree that the students stance were horrifying. Hopefully the push back begins with these cases.
What is really troubling is that the cancer that is killing this country has spread in from the coasts and in now in the midwest.
