    Hey Guys,

I'm looking at buying a new compound bow. I'm looking for one that isn't really expensive, that has a good value, and is fast enough to hunt with. I'm looking for something in the 60-70# range, or maybe the 50-60# range. I live in North Carolina, and I'm mainly going to be hunting for Whitetails, Turkeys and other big game animals that live in NC. I'm a teenager, and don't have vast reserves of money so I'm looking for something in a lower price range that has proven to be good for hunting conditions.

    Thanks,
    Rylan

I'm not sure anyone actually makes a "bad" bow nowadays. Hit the local dealers and shoot everything you can and make a decision based on what feels good to you and is in your price range. A lot of dealers also have used bows that may help you save some money. If you find a used one you like, come back and ask questions about it specifically and I'm sure there will be at least a few folks with some useful advice.
Bows basically have stayed the same for a few years so you're not going to get into ancient crap tech until you get back several years with a used bow, just make sure anything used is in good shape and is set up for your draw weight and length and you have arrows the correct weight and length.
    Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully this next week I'll be going to my local archery store and just getting a feel for what I want.

Yep, pretty much all the bows now shoot plenty fast at 50-60 lbs.
If your done growing I'd get one in a set range.

I shoot a Bowtech Carbon Knight. $550 for the bare bow last year. It's been fantastic and I've got 2 bucks and half a dozen turkey notched on it. You don't have to spend $1200 to get quality now days. Go to your local archery shop and shoot everything you can. Not to bad mouth places like Bass Pro but I'd try to find a place that specializes in archery. IMO they should have a more genuine interest in what you need vs. what they want to sell you.

I'm on the hunt for a new one too. I'm shooting a 15 year old Buckmaster G2 right now.

I've been shooting the Hoyt Rampage. I think it was on the cheaper end of most bow prices, if I remember correctly it was $600 for the bow? Its much better than my sons old Fred Bear I started with.

Check out the mainline series PSE bows... The Stinger X and Brute Force are both quality bows.

Well, I'm bringing back this thread from the dead...
Any opinions on the PSE Bow Madness?
Or any other less expensive faster bows anyone can think of?
