I arrowed this fella yesterday evening, just after 5:00 p.m. With a bit cooler weather on the way for the weekend, I think there will finally be some daytime deer movement. I saw a smaller buck about 3:30 p.m., and a 6 pointer about 4:00 p.m., and this guy showed up just as the sun was setting. He came in, nose to the ground, at about 20 yards upwind of my stand. I mouth bleated to stop him broadside at 20 yards, settled the pin, and let one go. Before I shot, I had to lift off the string once or twice to make sure I had my pin on my spot. With the vegetation still a bit thick, the lighting where he was standing was fairly shadowed. He muled kicked pretty good when he was hit, and I thought I heard him go down, but it was touch and go until I quietly left the stand, and found decent blood. After a short, less than 50 yards, blood trail track, he was done. I was fairly certain I put a good shot on him. I double lunged him with a Killzone broadhead, and that did the job. I have many trail camera pictures of this deer, and we called him Tall Tines. He's a great trophy, and once again, I was hunting with my Son, which makes him all the more special. Great memories for sure!
AWSOME! That's why we pick up our bows. I'll be hitting the woods tomorrow and my Buddy has a 9pt a bit smaller than that on cam, I sure hope I can put my pin on his vitals.
