My wife has decided she wants to start bow hunting, and I'm searching for a decent one for her. She is 5'4", 120lbs. Can anyone recommend a quality bow for her? We would like to stay in the $400-$700 price range. I did a search for previous threads on this topic, but I could not find anything recent. Thanks for your help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Quest (G5) Storm.......that's what I intend to buy for my 16 year old daughter. Has a long range of draw length and draw weight built right into one bow and isn't a cheap bow either that will last.
Hoyt Ignite, a used Chill SDX or Mission Craze there are a few good ones out there. With the new bows coming out be on the look out for people to start dumping last years models.
I think most lines will have entry level bows in your range that will fit her. Hit the local shops with her and let her try some out and see what she likes.
I would at least consider the Diamond Infinite Edge Pro. They are super adjustable. Draw weight of 5-70lbs, draw length of 13"-31", and an IBO speed of 310fps. It's also only 3.2lbs which matters for smaller people. For $399 with accessories it's a great value.
Find a used Mathews Chill SDX that bow is blazing fast which will help her with lower poundage. In all honesty I thought about finding myself a used one for next year since I only pull 55 pounds.
I bought my wife a chill SDX this year. It's an awesome bow! As others have said, I'm sure you could find a used one in your target price range
My wife loves her Hoyt charger. The package was probably the best deal out there in bowhunting. It's been replaced by something else by Hoyt this year, but I bet you can still find them and possibly discounted. I should add my wife is 5'1" and about 105, most women pull around the 42lbs range. So if you get one in that set range its going to be more efficient than a highly adjustable one.
All of these bows listed are good choices. I put on order a new Hoyt Powermax for my wife's Christmas present this year.
I'm 5' 1" and 125lbs. I shoot a Mission Riot and it is an AMAZING bow! Tried several, but the draw was so smooth and manageable I fell in love with it. Been shooting it 2 years and it's never let me down. I've killed squirrels with it... 2 doe and this year a great buck. Mission makes an OUTSTANDING product and I wouldn't give my Riot up
I got my GF the diamond infinite edge last year. this was her first year bow hunting and she really liked it. The bow itself is pretty nice. very adjustable and could last a very long time when taken care of. The package it came with was poor. the sight was ok and the rest was ok. I replaced the sight on hers the other day with an old trophy ridge of mine, and also bought a more adjustable rest from cabelas. I had trouble getting a good paper tune with the rest that came with it. (all plastic) It shoots really nice now! I think she will be able to hunt with it for many years to come!
