So I just recently read an article about this years Rut predictions, causes, and effects and there is a lot of speculation about an early breeding cycle which will occur and I quote "On Oct 27th until about the 3rd of Nov" and that the peak of the rut will be around the 10th of Nov all of which is based on Alshiemer and Laroches moon based observations. Just wanting to see when everybody thinks there rut activity will get rollin. Any thoughts?

Well, I'm betting that Oct 26th - Oct 31st will be the height of "chasing", because that's the week I took off from work. Dark to dark hunts boys!

My boss heads west elk hunting October 24 - November 6 so I'm hoping for a few of them while he's gone!

I killed a mature buck this weekend that was still traveling with smaller bucks, but which had a swollen neck. He was walking away when I saw them. I grunted and he turned and headed back, started scraping, then stopped dead still. After a couple minutes I grunted again and he came in closer and started scraping again.
He was spoiling for a fight. Seems a bit early for that attitude and activity but who knows...

    I hope they're right. I'll have 10/30 -11/1 off, then 11/6 - 11/15. I like my chances regardless

6.5 year old. 7 point with no brow tines. Had been doing some rubbing as well, had a good bit of bark in his antlers

Mark Drury isn't excited about how the rut and moon phases line up. Though, the last "horrible" year he equated it to, was probably the most dynamite rut action I've seen :tu:

... Of course, because I suck, no deer was taken. Oh Whistler, you lucky bastard you

seeing swollen necks and some attitude from the deer here in Oklahoma. There are some does that have sent their small ones off so I dont think it will be long here. I hope that the predictions are right I took 9 days of vacation for this time so we will see. Starting to get day time pics of mature bucks on the fields as well.

I don't think you can go wrong with these dates. I have always been a moon phase hunter, but seems like the best hunting is always the last week in October through the first two weeks of November for rut activity here in WI. I try an look at the weather and avoid warmer weather if I can. This is really the common theme I have seen that slows rut activity down... Ultimately I will be trying too find every minute possible to be in the woods during this time period to increase my odds of seeing a mature buck on his feet during daylight! Good Luck!

I'm hoping it all happens around the 1st of November just so all the 1 1/2 YO bucks don't get killed once the Minnesota gun opener comes around November 9th. I usually take the 1st - 15th off and as luck would have it the 31st is on a Saturday so I'm hoping for cold weather and lots of rut activity in between those dates.

5+ year old at 190lbs field dressed.. I went into my stands after this buck and he presented me a great shot. Solid 8 point, he's an old warrior and I could not be happier. Good luck to everyone! ImageUploadedByBowhunting.com Forums1447346899.050324.jpg
