So I traded my Diamond Hornet in and got a Diamond Outlaw from a pawn shop. I took it in to a local bow shop and got it all set up. It was shooting great, then all of a sudden the string snaps, breaks the arrow and sends it into my finger, splintering the carbon fiber into my finger. I guess I should have replaced the string! Then 2nd picture is the arrow splinters still in my finger, and the 3rd is what we got out! Still some in there unfortunately. Nasty stuff to get in a wound.
Wow, that looks like it could have been really ugly. It must have hurt like hell. Glad you got away light.
Maybe a stupid question but how often should you replace your string on a new bow? And a good lesson to all that read this me included is if you ever buy a used bow replace the string even if you think it's in good shape.
The bow shop told me to replace string minimum of every 4 years...I'll definitely be doing every 2. Bow ended up being fine and I got it restrung. It's shooting great!
Dang. I was going to get into traditional archery and get a samick sage, arrows, fletching jig, feathers and tools so I could do everything myself. But after this I might get a string before any of that stuff.
