I shot two doe this weekend using them. One was a pass through and could be reused. The other hit the opposite leg bone and dulled the tip, probably going to use it as another practice tip.
Sure, i'm not positive but I think replacement blades go for $15 - 20 bucks. So I would just buy a set of replacement blades and keep hunting.
Blades aren't the issue. You should always replace blades in a head after using it. The body of the head is what you need to examine closely. Most of them are made from aluminum and prone to getting bent. Double and triple check it after a kill to see if it can be reused.
I don't shoot rage or mechanical heads, but when I did and when I do choose to I never re-use a head after its been shot through an animal...Broadheads no, arrows yes. Heck my number one arrow in my quiver right now has gone through the last 3 deer I have killed.
Second day in a row that I have to agree with Sota. I prefer not to take any chances - you have to be 100% confident in your equipment if you're going to make a good shot. Spend the extra $15 for 60lbs of meat.
I am sure they are. However, I don't re-use Hypodermics or any broadhead after I shoot them through a deer. I push the arrow into the ground and unscrew the arrow from the broadhead and leave it there.
It all depends on where your animals have been hit, a hard off side shoulder can tweak the body of a head, blades are easy to replace ! Broadside pass throughs usually aren't to hard on heads!
^^^ Me too.....minus the hater part. One thing I know, if you hunt on my property you will not be using Rages. I think they are too fragile to hunt any big game. I did shoot 2 deer with a Rage. The first looked like all the pics you see with big hole and lots of blood. The second, the Rage looked like a crushed beer can. The tip was broke, the ferrule was bend and the blades were broken. That was enough for me.
My friend uses Rage heads and has had excellent success with them. Always a pass through (he shoots 60# like me) and they never bend. He uses the Xtreme though. I bought a pack of non-Chinese knockoff Hypo's but like my QAD Exodus so much I can't bring myself to use the Hypo's. Maybe I will save them for turkeys or just sell them. I haven't decided yet lol.
I resharpen my broadhead's and like said already make sure ya spin test them before reusing they get a bent ferrule will fly crazy.
The Rage Hypodermics can be reused very easily after replacing the blades. Even though they are a stainless material, make sure to take the blades out and clean the inside where blades rest of all blood because the blood can pit the metal. You can use peroxide or alcohol to do it easily. I'm thoroughly impressed with the Hypo.
