Of course I've had to customize it to suit all my needs but man this thing works awesome Deer in basket is my son's Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Sick rig! We've got a pioneer 700 and I'm thinking I want it to look like yours! What'd you use for a bow rack and deer basket? Were they custom fabricated or available from a retailer?
I made the bow rack from scratch. The basket is a modified hitch haul basket. I basically just used the bottom and added everything else. Helps being a machinist with tools and materials at my disposal I actually chose the 500 over the 700 after test driving. The 500 had more power (torque)due to not being an automatic and I preferred a rack over a bed. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
The bag hanging on the back of the cab is actually a gun case that will hold 2 scoped rifles. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Looks like you got that rig fixed up good. Congrats to your son on a fine buck. Blessings........Pastorjim
Nice. We were going to buy the 500 but now we're leaning toward the new 1000. Mostly because my husband is 6' 4" and 260lbs. I like the idea of the 500 fitting in the back of my truck.
He does not want the 500. I'm 5'9" and the leg room is a concern on long rides. Awesome little work horse but if you expect to play or take long rides, it will get cramped. I ride around fields with crops in so I needed small. The 500 is perfect for me. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
I brought mine home in the back of the truck and it was a load. (Loaded with fork truck)I was very uncomfortable using ramps to unload so I backed a trailor up to my truck and lestened the grade considerably. Old saying about a monkey and a football come to mind. Thank for that info! We sat in one and his knees were pretty much hitting the dash. Mix that with really bumpy 40-80 mile rides and it seemed like it was a bad idea.
I bought long ramps but after riding up and down some hairy grades the ramps are a piece of cake. Lol. Side note for everyone not already in the know... secure your ramps when you load and unload so you don't fall off when they kick out. Trust me as someone who works for emergency departments. Also spend a bit more to get decent ramps. We bought cheap harbor freight ramps first. When my husband loaded our atv into the truck, one bent, dumping him and the atv off. Off soapbox.
The suspension is sufficient for what it is but he would not be happy with it. I really like the ground clearance at 11" stock. That was a big reason I went with the pioneer over a ranger (that and the name honda on the side) Test drove a rzr and couldn't get it turned around quick enough to park it back in its spot. Too sluggish at slow creeping speeds. It wanted gas. The pioneer likes to just creep around like you do while hunting. I can put it in 3rd gear and just put around all day. 1rst gear is low gear and by low, I mean low. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
That's round-trip but there are more than 1000 miles of trails I can access from my driveway. It's cool to be able to hop on the atv right from the house and head into the mountains. You can drive a UTV/ATV on roads too, with the exception of the highways... in which case you just ride down the shoulder or ditch.
Or get a trailor and not mess with ramps. Lol But I agree Christine Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
I have a 20' x 6' tandem axle flat bed trailer. I would be able to get the SxS and the atv on it. :D When Jmbuckhunter moved out here, he bought a Yamaha Viking right away. He's put more miles on that thing than I have on my 'new' old chevy. It's really nice but I like Hondas. On the other hand, he's been chauffeuring me around and that rocks. LOL
I was going to say a viking would also be a good choice but I like honda too. Take a look at the yamaha wolverine r spec as well. Not sure about the leg room but it is a little sportier with some utilitarian usage as well. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
The can am commander is also really nice but they are really proud of them. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
My boss just got a pioneer past weekend, his is the 4 seater but I haven't had a chance to check it out so don't know much about it. Other boss is looking the kawasaki utv but hasn't decided on anything yet. Sweet looking rig though man, I'd love to have something similar but be little bit before can look into them too much.
