What a sit this was. I left work at 11:00 and parked at my spot in Kentucky at 3:00. I sneaked in the back way to where my Lone Wolf Alpha 2 and six sticks were set up. I went to hook my harness to my lifeline and noticed that my prussic knot had been cut or chewed in two. It was very frayed so I assumed something had chewed on it. Then I looked at the straps on my sticks and the excess strap had been cut right at the buckles. I scrambled back to the truck and got my Viper and started back. Then I ran into a dog. It looked like a chocolate lab mix. It just stood there staring at me with its hackles up and I was thinking "Oh crap". I still had my bow so I put it between me and him and just stood there. Finally he eased up to me and started sniffing. I guess he decided I was okay and started to walk away. I started walking again and he fell in beside me. I got to my tree and the dog ran out into the field I was going to hunt. Oh well. I put my Viper on the tree and started up, removing Lone Wolf sticks as I went. Every strap was missing the excess right up to the buckle. The top strap on the stand was missing and the bottom strap was the same as the sticks. If this was squirrels, they were homicidal. If I'd been a stupid hunter and tried to climb without my lifeline, made it to the stand and put weight on it without noticing the top strap was missing, I'd have been in a world of trouble. Anyway, I did have two does come by and give me a shot but I passed. I don't want to shoot a doe in the evening.
I have no idea. I've left this stand out all season before and never had any squirrel damage. Surely it couldnt have been a person. Who would do something like that? Has anyone else had squirrels chew on Lone Wolf straps?
It's just to similar to be an animal imo. Same spot on all straps and all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I didn't get a chance to take pics this afternoon, but I'll take some tomorrow. The straps sure look like they were cut.
Wasn't there a similar thread last year? Somebody had cut almost entirely through the straps on a set of sticks, leaving just enough to keep them up? No way this was squirrels, somebody was trying to hurt an "evil bow hunter." My guess is one of these guys.
Dude, that sounds way too suspicious. I would contact the local conservation officer, report it and have him come out and take a look. If someone did this, it's a crime!!!!!
It was me. However the ends were not chewed at all. Every strap had been cut 3/4 the way through..... I'd only had the stand / sticks up two days.
I would look the area over really well. You are probably close to another stand and they want you out.
