Dipping while hunting

I'm a dipper as I'm sure a lot of hunters are, in everyones opinion does it affect the possibility of seeing deer while dipping. Every deer I've shot I've had a dip in but I'm sure they can smell it.

 

My personal opinion is that the odds are better that a deer would see you putting a dip in our taking it out, or spitting rather than busting you from the smell of it.

 

I have never been up in a tree without a dip in. Couple of things I put a dip in before I hunt I do not add or spit on stand.

 

Yeah I always spit in a bottle but I've heard from some people that they won't because of the smell, I say bs lol

 

My buddy puts dip in and takes it out while in the stand and he shoots at least one deer every year. I also have friends who smoke in the stand. My opinion is, as long as it doesn't smell like human scent the deer won't relate the scent to danger. They 100% smell it they just don't think anything of it.

 

I agree, I think this applies to smoking on stand as well.

 

I have a buddy that won't hunt with me unless I agree not to dip on the stand because he swears the deer will smell it

 

I dip prolly 90% during my hunt. I spit right on the ground. I kill plenty of deer.

I don't dip while hunting....I do Nae Nae every now and then. :D

 

Somebody needs to sneak into Ty's spot and video that

 

use to dip all the time and spit on the ground, killed plenty of deer. also have pissed out of my stand onto the ground and still killed deer. so i dont think it really matters, but that's just me.

No I am sure he will still try to dictate the actions of those that get the pleasure to hunt with him.

One of my buddies spits his dip right on the ground and kills plenty of deer. He said he had a doe lick it off the ground one time... He is probably full of it though lol

 

If I'm in the stand I have a giant hunk of skoal Apple in my lip. I'd be more than happy to have mature buck wind me. They just don't exist around here

 

I never had an issue before I quit. Now I chew sun flower seeds when I'm hunting and they really don't care about that.

I totally agree and I dip mature bucks are a completely different species in my opinion.

 

I only dip when I'm hunting.. I spit on the ground and have never had a deer react negatively to it (that I know of). I was actually dipping with Levi Garrett leaf tobacco one day, that stuff gives me massive juicers (which is why I don't dip with it anymore) so I was spitting like crazy and most of it was hitting the base of the tree. If any of you are familiar with Levi Garrett, it's very sweet, I believe it's Molasses flavored?.. I had a mature doe and 2 yearling come in one day I was dipping with Levi Garrett and they actually started licking the base of the tree where I had been spitting all day. Not only that when I returned the next time I hunted there was actually bark tore off the base of the tree, the deer started to actually eat the bark of the tree because the molasses? had absorbed into the bark.
