So a few times now in mid draw, my release popped off my D loop. Each time my finger was behind the trigger. The tension has not been adjusted. It is the same release I shot last year. A Scott Mongoose XT. ( bought it last year )Any ideas as to what is wrong? Update : received my release back from Scott Archery. They said they replaced the spring and dowel and cleaned and oiled it. Shot it and after the 5th shot......it did the same thing again. My D loop looks slightly worn. Could this be the problem and not the release? My true fire release has not failed yet, it is a dual caliper and the Scott a Single. Any ideas? Thanks.
No idea but Scott has great CS and will definitely take care of you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just spoke to Scott archery. They said send it back and they would fix it. I agree it's dangerous, good thing I don't sky draw my bow or no telling where that arrow would have gone. Not to mention my bloody lip where my hand hit my mouth when it let go. Thanks for the input guys.
Is your D-loop in good shape? This was happening to me a few weeks ago, I thought it was the release at first, thought, I changed the D-loop first and the release was holding. There was just enough wear in the D-loop when I would start to pull on the string the D-loop would slide through the release

Replace your d-loop. Takes 5-minutes. If the loop is worn it can slip through caliper style releases. I know this from the experience of punching myself in the face because of a worn loop.
Well it's definitely the release. Changed D loop and had same problem. Called Scott and they are 2nd day shipping me a brand new one my choice of the mongoose or the rhino. Can't say enough about the customer service at Scott Archery.
