Alright guys, age the deer in the following three pictures. The first two pics are the same deer two years in a row. The last pic is the deer I took last year. I just got ageing results back on both deer last night so I know what the cementum aging results show. ANY OF YOU WHO KNOW ME PERSONALLY OR WERE IN THE DISCUSSION ON FACEBOOK PLEASE WAIT TO MAKE ANY RESPONSES TILL THE END. I want to see how many guys can get this right. Thanks, looking forward to a few peoples responses. EDIT: Results are now on page 3, I would encourage folks to make guesses and reply after viewing the pics on page one, then see if you were right. NO cheating... that wouldn't be any fun now would it
My guess is that buck one is 3 and a half to four years old. I think buck two is beyond 5 and a half years old. Reason: The neck. Yes buck one has a massive body, sway back, pot belly. But his neck is small and the neck meets the chest really high up. Buck number two has a huge neck and chest which makes his rest of his body look small. and can be deceiving. Pm if me if i am right or wrong please.
Buck #1 - 5 Midget legs, belly, back and looks like loose skin on 2nd year picture. If not, that's a well fed deer. Photo #2 and #3 -- 6 Buck #2 - 4 1/2 Just looks like a buck in his prime. Might be a year older but put my money on 4 1/2. Same for me. PM and let me know.
Keep in mind boys, Buck #1 are all August / Sept pics still in velvet as you can see. Buck 2 is mid Nov, middle of the rut
I'm not much for aging deer, but I would guess that Buck 2 is younger even though the neck makes it look older. My guess is that picture is during rut and the others are not. to guess, buck 1 pic 1 5 1/2 buck 1 pic 2&3 is 6 1/2 buck 2 is 4 1/2.
Also give an age for all three picture sets Buck 1 pic 1 - age Buck 1 pics 2 and 3 - age Buck 2 pic 1 -age
So guys I'm gonna let this run all morning, there are a few folks I really want to see chime in. I will post the true ages at noon. If I sent you a PM PLEASE DO NOT RUIN IT or edit posts. THANKS
I am now going to flip my answers around. Buck 1, Pic one: 5 1/2 Buck 1, Pic 2-3: 5 1/2 Buck 2, Pic 1 : 3 1/2
