Well yesterday was the ohio archery opener and me and my girlfriend headed to a buddy stand that was been set up for a few years.she worked so hard all summer to get her poundage up to 40 and be a good shot and she really did work her but off. Long story short we put her bow on a scale she's now pulling back 45 lbs and she's shooting great out to about 35 yards. Back to the story.we get in the tree stand 45 min be for legal shooting light and we sit waiting for the sun to come up which is amazing to me bc im just like a lot of you and have been waiting for this day since last season ended well legal shooting light was right around 650 and it was clam and slow with acorns falling everywhere finally i catch movement to our right and it a a buck. I tell her what i see and told her to get stood up and get ready the deer is getting close to our only shooting lane i tell her to draw slowly so she does. I stop the deer and range him i turn my head to tell her 30 yards i didn't even get 30 out of my mouth and the arrow is already on the way. I turn around after the shot. And say you hit it and she said no i missed high i told her i couldn't see the shot but i heard the sound of impact on the deer that it makes and it sounds like nothing els so i was sure she hit the buck. She was sure she didn't so we got down and went to look for the arrow. This is 730 by the way. Right where we had thought the deer was standing we couldn't find the arrow so i kept looking abd about a min later i said there's blood and she got really excited as did i. We waiting about 45 more min. And took up the blood trail we have good blood we follow the blood trail about 40 yards and stop to look for more blood i look Down the hill and 20 yards down the hill lays her buck. And i show her what i see and she's very excited and we hug. And go take a look at her deer first thing i notice is this she smoked it at 30 yards perfect double lung shot. I was very proud at this point bc she had worked so hard towards this and over came a lot. she shot it was a 45 pound 25 inch draw mission craze in pink of course with a Easton axis with a carbon express fixed blade. What a great experience!! I wish i could have that with my girlfriend... That was an enjoyable write up! She will never forget the first one for sure. Nor will she forget that experience. Congrats!
Congratulations to both her and you there is nothing like getting your first deer and nothing as good for a long time hunter than helping someone else get there first deer!
