Sorry don't get to excited guys! Seen this in an Ohio food store today. I am having a debate with a friend. Is this made of other racks put together? Or is it a caribou rack?
Looks like caribou shovels combined with a deer rack or two. Def not just one or the other though. Weird looking mount!
Dunno, looks legit...whoever made it (if it's a fake) did a hell of a job on it. Hard to believe but there's lots of traits that would be damn hard to fake without actually just casting and pouring the whole thing and that would be a nightmare. The main beams look more elk like than anything to me. It may be an amalgamation of a bunch of different racks but some of those tines are stupid long. Quite a mystery.
I'm the friend in question. Don't look like no caribou rack I've ever seen in pics. Looks to me like it's a taxidermist made its out of other racks. The only thing whitetail I see about it is the head. Maybe mule deer racks could have been used. With the mass there and a bunch of tines over 12 inches, I find it hard to believe theres any whitetail in the bone on the head. And really looks like a barren ground caribou to me.
It's clearly a shoulder mount of the elusive whitetailed mule faced elkabou...seriously tho I have no idea.
Nothing about those antlers scream caribou or elk. Probably just a bunch of whitetail antlers put together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The power of Google didn't return anything. Only way to tell would be the Ohio DNR to see if it were legit.
Im just curious, what about it looks more like whitetail antlers then caribou? I don't see whitetail at all.
I have killed several caribou. Believe me, they look exactly like the tops. Put down the craft brew and look again.
