Hey Everyone, I am Dustin but my friends call me LAFFY. I'm Originally from Indiana but since 2008 I've been traveling the world via US NAVY Aviation. I have been able to hunt a lot of different places in my 7 Year tenure with the military. I Have hunted Elk and Mule Deer in the Mountains of Washington State. I've put a dent on the duck population in the Puget Sound. I've hunted whitetail in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. Now for the next three years I get to try to bag a Southern Maryland White Tail. I'm renting a 48 acre hay farm with a few tree lines and a pond. The surrounding agriculture is Corn and soybeans. I really like the area hunting wise an am excited to bag some white tail. Good Luck to all. Bow Hunt or Die!!!!

I work in Quantico but my home station is NSWC Indian Head. I'm retired Navy, 9 years now.

There is a ton of deer in southern MD, some real studs too. There is also Sika deer over on the eastern shore...there are plenty of opportunities in MD.

Ya I've had some buddies that we're stationed here and nothing but great things to say about it. The Sitka deer peeks my interest cause I have never been on a Sitka hunt. Any advice or starting point to get on a hunt for em?

I've only gone twice and both times was at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge...one thing I can say is, they are more like a miniature marsh loving elk than a deer. They are vocal in the rut and respond to calls...but you'll have to be in the marsh. On the MD side, I believe they allow baiting so that's another tactic you have at your disposal. Check out areas around the Blackwater NWR, I understand that it is a hot spot for them.

Welcome aboard. If you get after Sika in the Blackwater Refuge, I'd recommend hiring a guide the first time or so. It all looks the same and it's the grossest, stickiest black mud and swamps you can imagine. Those little Sika and ducks love it in there though. Also as somebody said there are some great deer in southern MD. I hunt the central part of the state and the eastern shore. Good luck and welcome.
