All great advise. I know I struggle with this tremendously. I've found ways to include my family in what I do, which makes it much more enjoyable. Its also a good idea to make compromises to your spouse. She understands that the first few weeks in October, I'm pretty flexible and can move my hunting time around if and when she needs me. She also knows that there are the magical couple of weeks of the rut that are less than ideal for me and she works with that.

My priorities are simple. Family first, then hunting stuff as time permits. I make sure the kids and wife are happy, time is well spent on them, then at the end of the day, I have my time to focus on hunting projects, etc.

Good read! I'm a faith, family, bowhunting kind of guy when it comes to my priorities. I got my wife into bowhunting now so I've been blessed to combine family and bowhunting on most occassions.

Great Article. I find myself in the same situation of balancing work, family and hunting (including hunting blog). Time is often scheduled. Before every hunting season I sit down with my wife and put hunting on the calendar. This way you know you will get out and enjoy time in the woods. My kids are young (2 and 6), but I include them every chance I can in the woods, archery, checking trail cams, and setting up stands. This time is 10 times more valuable to them than letting them play an hour on the ipad. Great advice here...Thanks!
