Last Sunday a buddy of mine slayed a nice buck. Made a quick video of it. Tell me what you think!

Heck of a couple bucks, congrats to the shooters.

Curious on that first buck. Shot looked pretty low, how far did he go and did he get heart?

That second one was a stud, no footage? And what did he score?

Not a bad video, watching on the phone was a bit hard to hear so probably missed the two different deer mention if there was one. Was wondering how the heck that shot produced an exit so far back. Then seen thd rack and realized two separate deer.

What broadhead was used on the first deer? It looked like your buddy got really poor penetration on that shot. As low as that hit was, I would expect a pass through pretty easily. Any idea what happened there?

That second buck is nice. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, something was off about that shot. At first I thought way misjudged yardage but you can hear him telling the camera guy to range him. So not sure if he used wrong pin or no yardage was given? Didn't look overly far. One thing I didn't like was the pressuring to hurry up and shoot. Light seemed fine, deer was calm and didn't seem to be a small lane either for shooter or cameraman.

When I seen the shot I thought it was too low, but it was recovered so no harm no foul.

The 2nd buck, the guy doesn't film but we are trying to get him too. He shoots pigs every year. He's going to have it scored this week I think. I can get back to you guys on that. The broadhead was a grim reaper whitetail special. It wasn't as low as you think it was, not saying it wasn't low. It took liver and just one lung. I don't know why it was such bad penetration. He's using a 70lb charger at 28.5 inches 385gr arrow. He actually doubled back past the stand when we were tracking him. He only survived a few hours after the shot. Blood everywhere. If my recovery footage didn't go corrupt I would've included it. Yeah the only thing that I "didn't like" was the hurrying him. (I wasn't the camera man or the shooter) they are my two buddies.

Well there's your problem. Light arrow and a 2 inch cut, 3 blade over the top mechanical. Not the best combo for penetration.

I agree. I would have probably used a 400 or higher depending on the KE. I shoot 415 ish arrow with 2 inch. Now they are razorcut so maybe I'm different.

    Good buck and nice video

With the cold snap that we got the other day, we are closer than ever to laying down the other big buck that was out in the field that night he shot the one in the video. This ones about a 165 in. deer. He's feeding earlier and earlier so now we just have to wait for the right wind for the stand that he's by. Hopefully we can get that on film too!
