Instead of buying new arrows I was thinking about just putting 100 grain brass inserts into my arrows. It will bump my foc upto 18.11% and I was wondering if that is to high for my setup? I want a heavier arrow and with the brass insert my total weight would be about 457.55 grains.
always heard that 11-15 was ideal... don't think more will hurt, but will it help?? but what do I know.. I'm just a peon
Make sure that much weight is not going to push your spine too weak. I almost never shoot more than 11-12% but lots of guys are up around 18-20% and like it.
The way Tim Gillingham told me to use the chart I would be right at the edge of the 300 spine. I think I should be good though.
You should be just fine. I have 27.5 at 9.4 gpi Easton axis. with 50 grain hit insert for 450 arrow weight. And shoot great. I use to shoot the fmj both arrows weight the same and the axis go 2 in deeper into my target.
I'm currently shooting a 330 spine with 16% FOC and the arrows fly great (50 gr brass insert, 100 gr tip). Total arrow wt is 400 gr.

High FOC provides all positives, provided your spine is stiff enough to handle it. That is only an issue if you are on the weak side to begin with. I'm shooting 150 gr heads and 75 gr brass inserts with feathers on the back. 475 gr easton axis with 22% foc. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
