Haven't seen this on here so..... A hero of my youth... A true icon, amazing writer, a bowhunting legend. Jim Dougherty has passed.... "I would like to be remembered as a guy who loved to bowhunt, who did it rather well and who tried to represent the sport properly." Jim Dougherty Accomplished sir! R.I.P. Jim!!
Yes, that is actually where I pulled the quote from. I used to read EVERYTHING I could get my hands on from him....
Yep he was one of the best. I grew up reading Jim's articles, and they helped shape me into a bowhunter. His clarity came out in everything he wrote no matter the what the article was,. and while I never met him I would be willing to bet that same clarity carried over into his life, a life spent well. God Speed Jim
the 1st thing I do when I get a new issue of Petersen's bowhunting is turn to the back page and read the Trails End column. For guys my age (45...) the likes of Jim Dougherty's, the M.R. James's, and the Larry D. Jones's hold special places because we grew up reading their articles and dreamed of the far away places they wrote about. Sad day for sure. has anybody seen the new add that's been out with Jim talking to a maybe grandson? I believe it's a Mossey Oak add. Very cool though.
The man fought cancer for 8 years? Still wrote, still hunted, still lived....... http://www.bowhuntingmag.com/uncategorized/grounds_bh_coues_0810/
I always followed him when I first started hunting in the 80's. Definitely a good one. Blessings.........Pastorjim
