I'd suspect their "managed farm" has probably released some range breeders from a high fence operation and it was not mentioned. Neither he nor that deer are old enough to have been managed to that point of growth and development IMO. Mineral is a great tool but no miracle mineral is going to make a young deer like that.

Not to take anything away from his success with a bow, it still takes some gumption to down deer like that and I congratulate him on the success. Full disclosure would be nice though.

Funny it is awesome if you post a picture of a big buck, unless of course the deer is too big.

I don't feel that's a fair statement. There's a lot more going on there than just the fact that deer is a monster. Shooting pen raised deer may be a personal success but shooting them without full disclosure is a cheat and not worthy of the same admiration as an accomplishment as a free range natural deer. There's a lot of indication that deer is not a natural deer nor is it a result of that kids deer management of free range and natural deer. The location and his age and the age of that deer are all pretty suspicious, too suspicious to ignore. Any time a miracle mineral is mentioned, I cringe.

Yes miracle mineral sets off alarms, I was actually not admitting I too feel that there has to be some skullduggery going on here.

Look at the color of the rack that SCREAMS pen deer. The comment about scratches on his rack from barbed doesnt sound good for a free range deer.

The white rack raises an alarm with me. That is common with game farm bucks.

Edit: I posted before reading all the posts, I see I am not the only one :) .

I have a couple of deer that regularly produce really light or white colored racks, I named one Bleach. I have no idea why it happens but it does happen in the wild once in a while, just saying.

Another thing is his record of killing 150" or so deer...they don't just grow on trees and especially in that portion of the country. However that is a normal average size of most high fence operations range breeders based on what I have seen on Kieth Warran's series of shows on deer farms. If what he reports is actually fact, he killed two 150" bucks last year and was chasing three more this year when he killed this big one. That just screams suspicion, in KS, MO, Ill or anywhere else...let alone his state.

I suppose it's possible he's killing deer someone else released on another property and just doesn't know they originated from a deer farm, if one wants to give him the benefit of the doubt. He may be killing them and thinking that's just normal for 150"-220" deer to be walking around by the dozens and stupid enough to just stumble into you no matter how you hunt.

sounds like a rich kid that had daddy spoil him by giving him his own deer farm. when this kid needs more deer well daddy will supply his hobby. let him come hunt some public land in PA and see how good his success rate is. I wonder how he sleeps at night?

congrats to the deer for being able to carry a rack like that! I feel sorry for him not being on an even playing field with his hunter. this deer was born with an unfair death sentence!!!

my BS alarm is also sounding..............

monday he was in full velvet, and by wednesday, even the next week, the antlers are that white.....yeah OK

sounds like a set-up for a mineral advertisement

marched all around him, around and around for 15 minutes, yet never smelled him in a bush on the ground ?
maybe this deer has sinus problems ?
or associates the smell of humans with being fed

if this score is actually counted, then the scoring system is bogus. they better start counting all penned deer. right about now if I was him I would start feeling embarrassed.

If it is for "real", good for him! If not, the bashing is appropriate.

I live 15 miles where this deer supposedly was shot. I know the exact farm and every farm around it. That deer didn't come from Surry County NC. Like OH or W VA
