Well it was a quick season this year. Season opened on 9-4 and I got him on 9-5. 9-4. Sat in the blind only to see 2 does with fawns and a few doves. 9-5. I was undetermined if I would be able to hunt or not due to some crappy mist/rainy weather that was forecasted. Decided to head in anyways to some new land that I picked up this summer. Got settled into the stand at 6:30. It had misted off and on during the first hour or so. At about 8, a young 6x5 came by and shortly after a young coyote ran the younger buck off. I figured my hunt was ruined so I decided to shoot the coyote pup. Pup was dead in his tracks at about 30 yards by 8:15. By 8:30 my buck showed up. He circled downwind of the pup but wasn't overly alarmed of the coyote. He didn't snort or flag but slowly started to walk back to the north where he had came from. I drew back and stopped him on an old fenceline at 35 yards. I let the arrow fly and connected with a good shot. Although it was a pass thru, I was unable to find the arrow. I knew it was a good shot so I decided to give him an hour. Went back out an hour later and picked up the blood trail right away and found him 100 yards later. Perfect heart shot. Now I am trying to decide what to do with the rest of my fall. My best bow buck to date. 6x4 with 10" g2s, 20" wide, and just under 23" beams. Scored near 145"
Congrats on a great buck!! Like the coyote as well!! Nice job, thanks for sharing your pics with us..
Wow, you literally had a full season in 2 days lol. Congrats. Shot a blonde phase coyotw like that a few years back. Been kicking myself ever since for not doing a full body mount with it. Have promised myself if I get another one it's a done deal.
Great buck! I loved the way you chronicled the whole story with pics. Congrats again. Blessings..........Pastorjim
