My dad got a pair of swarovision 10x42 today. I was wondering if anyone here has used or had experience with Swarovski's? Is 10x42 too large? I suggested that he got the 8x42, but I guess he like more magnification. thanks.

10x 42's are a bit overkill for deer, there the best for optics bar none, mighty expensive though, the 8x42's would be my choice.

I use 8x to for bow hunting but only downside I see to 10x would be a little narrower field of view. I think they'll be fine.

I hunt almost exclusively in the Midwest, with a few excursions thrown in every so often to Colorado for elk hunting. I MUCH prefer 10x42s as opposed to the 8x's... I've never had the stronger magnification be a hindrance, but if you're setting up on a lot of field edges or open timber you'll appreciate the stronger lenses.

    I've hunted with 10x42 Leica's for about 18 years now. Wouldn't Change a thing.

I have 10x42 El's, I also have 8x32 Zeiss conquests ....the wider FOV of the 8x gets the nod for whitetail hunting more often then not.

Agree 100%. I've been using 10x42s for close to a decade now and wouldn't trade them for anything.
