I am wanting to start filming hunts and was wondering what a good starter camera would be. I need a decent camera on a budget. I am in college so money is tight but want to get something to get use to filming. I don't want a go pro type because I want all the features like zoom ect. Let me know what your choice would be! Thanks
Cannon website has a refurbished vixia HFG20 for 560. This cam was 1500 new. Thats an awesome deal if you can swing it. It has features you can add onto later as you expand like a remote control, shotgun mic, audio monitoring, ect. I read long and hard about this filming thing before buying. I learned that If you buy a cheaper cam and you like the game you will have to upgrade later and you will have wasted your initial investment. This cam is awesome and is being used by many on this site.
I started with just a cheap ($200) Sony Handi cam CX 220. I now have the Canon HF G30. The above mentioned are great cameras but if you were looking to spend a lot less. Check out the Sony. Most of my videos on my You Tube channel were filmed with the CX 220. I still use the Sony for some stuff and I feel the picture quality is pretty good in good light. Only $200 and you can still keep it when you upgrade to better in the future. Use it for second angle type stuff. It is small and light and fits in my pocket. Great for taking along when scouting just in case you see something you want to video
You need a good fluid head and a LANC remote! I'm sure you probably realize this and upgraded with your new camera. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The LANC will definitely help all that unwanted noise from you touching the camera. Great action though! I'd go for the fluid head soon too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
