I was going to watch the entire 15 minute video but then I remembered I work about 10 minutes away from a Cabela's and could buy a target in less time than it would take to gather materials.:poke:

Maybe so. It would be about 2 hours round trip for me to go to bass pro shop, or any archery place. But I just enjoy building things. Plus. You can't beat a free target that should last over a year.

Oh I hear you about available resources, I am sure it makes a good target. I have access to a metal band machine in the shipping department so I can usually get another few months out of a target by banding the block in a few places.

Very nice work. Might have to do something like this during the winter as a little project

I really like my carpet target. I will say if you shoot a lot like I do it can be hard on your arrows. I had some carbons showing significant wear on the ends near the tip.

Thanks for sharing this, I have been thinking about making my own target for a while now and it seems like carpet is the way to go.

I used stacked cardboard about 30 years ago until I realized it was wrecking my arrows. Then I went to carpet. Same issue. My arrows are too expensive to save a little on a target. Save $50 on a target but ruining $200 arrows?

The other day I came across this great deal. I bought 2 although I have the exact same target still in good shape. I couldn't pass up the deal. Morrell Super Duper for under $35. Free ship to store. Free shipping if spend over $35. I am sure you can find a $1 item, or get 2 like I did. 2 year warranty. They cost $95 on Morrell's website. Local shop sells them for $90. Same exact target (#173 on box). Mine came last week. My shop sells just a replacement cover for $30.
