Got a surprise this morning in the way of three squirrel hunters on my river bottom lease. Had a short discussion with them and ushered them off the property. Their eyes got real big when I pulled out my phone and auto dialed the local CO at the end of our conversion. Of course calling him by his first name while on speaker phone and asking about the family got their attention and put a giddy up in their step! Any way -- Here is the reason I was over there to start with.
Nice deer pics. That's the problem with allowing others in on properties, they may go in for something innocuous and either find a camera and pull a card or stumble upon a bruiser buck and see him in person, either way it may be plenty enough to encourage them to come back after the deer at some point. That's why I'm so paranoid about anyone coming onto the properties with or without permission.
From what I can tell he is 4 + years old. Not sure I will shoot him, but the wife an kids have three green light on him. There is a better buck on the property that has my interest...
The idea of trespassers always gives me a uneasy feeling with a history of my stands and trailcams getting stolen on private property. Always ends up that I don't have any clue on who the culprits are because only me and other family members have permission to hunt the areas I generally hunt. Glad you happened to catch the trespassers in the act and installed a little fear into them.
Nice buck!! We're they intentionally trespassing. Is the land posted?? I think walking them off the land was a good first warning. Calling co might had been a bit extreme. But if the land was clearly posted and they were hunting it then yes I would have called also.
