Who uses them and are they worth the money? Are they're any other brands that compare but are cheaper? I'm looking into getting one of the pole saws but was curious if anyone has used them.
They're a decent saw but one thing I wish they had done was when they came out with the pole saw, you could've attached the hand saw to it. Instead, you would have to buy a whole 'nother unit. Other than that, I think the saw is tough and well constructed. Blessings.........Pastorjim

I use gerber and it works well for me. Todd may sell a good saw but the parts are not made in the USA and he uses the trade laws to assemble it and claims it is made in the USA.
I have one of the first Wicked hand saws ever produced and I'm still using it today. In comparison I busted through 3 different Gerber, Primos and Browning saws in 3 years before I got my Wicked. I even snapped the tip off a Silky hand saw a few years back. IMO they are worth every penny if you never have to buy another saw.
I really like my hand saw and have had it for years. I bought the pole saw when they first came out and so did a number of guys I know. I think the pole saw sucks and don't even take it out anymore. Maybe the newer ones are better but with the early ones the pole pulls out of what is supposed to lock it in place so you can not cut with it. Considering it is over $200 it is enough to piss you off.
I believe they have a lifetime warranty. Send it back and have him replace it. See if he actually does what he claims. I have never had the issue that you mentioned though I will look out for it.
I bought a 10' Hooyman saw. It cuts pretty well and I like it so far. It packs down to 28" which could be a bit big for some. I've only pruned stuff in the yard so far. Later this week I'm gonna put it to the test hanging some stands.
I have the Pole Saw, Hand Saw, and Bone saw. So far I haven't replaced any blades and really haven't had any issues. What I love about the hand saw is how you really don't need to cut a lot of smaller diameter tree, you can use the handsaw as more of a heavy duty machete. Would love a 15' saw but they are sure pricey! Worth the money when you have it forever
I talked to Todd about it at a show a couple years ago he said to tighten up the screws. I did that and it still pulls out.
I don't know how well this would work but you could try to rough up some of the pole with sandpaper so the surface isn't so smooth, may help the clamp and screws bite more.
Call him and tell him that your unit is defective and you want a replacement. That's what lifetime warranty is to me. Send it back either you get a new or repaired saw under the warranty or his warranty is a fraud. Either way you have nothing to lose.
