After getting two pics of Ernie in mid July he became a ghost. I have been moving cameras around for a month and finally caught up with him. Looks like he has finished growing and will be around the same size as he was last year when he was 6. Hopefully we will be able to keep track of him from now on.

    Thanks guys.

Ill second the Vote on the stealth cams. At first I wont lie. It was a struggle using them but over the past 3 years they have made gigantic improvements. The picture quality is awesome and they have became really reliable. In the past I had spots where I would only put a reconyx because I would only check them once every other month. I just couldnt get myself to risk not getting the pics that I needed. But since the G series cameras have came out. I dont have any problems dropping a 30 or 42 in my go to spots. It took them a long time to make a great camera but the G series rock.

I bought a g42 because of seeing all the great photos on the show and I love it. No complaints whatsoever

Yeah I dunno but I disliked it too just in case I missed something.

    On a serious note:
Could anyone honestly say they looked at that deer and thought he looked seven years old?

Maybe a little in the face but his body looks like a stud 5 year old. That's a buck of a lifetime for me. Good luck Clinton.

No, I think Ernie is a prime example that skeletal structure is a genetic trait in and of itself at times that overcomes the "supposed rules" for how they should look. I think RD is strikingly young looking despite the fact I know for fact he's 5 1/2 minimum this year...I believe 6 personally.

I would have to agree on the body size. he definitely looks young and always has. If i didnt have all the pics to prove his age I wouldnt every believe it.

Here are some pics of him starting in 2012. As you can see his body has never changed. Only thing that has ever looked different is his nose. Also i think it shows that sometimes when they reach there potential it doesnt matter how old they get their rack size never really changes much.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't doubting his stated age, I just thought it was interesting that he is that old but doesn't look it. I knew you had enough history with him to have a firm grip on his actual age. I thought it was worth pointing out that even an old deer can still have the build of a young deer. I've been seeing the same thing a lot this year with our older deer.
