For the life of me, I can't figure out what this phase is all about. Watched a couple shows last night with people looking for tiny houses, and I was just at a loss. I get the idea of living simply, but these fruit cakes are taking it a whole new level. Family of 6 with 2 toddlers and they are buying a one bedroom house with 600 sq. feet. Then I watched another with a 30 year old woman that needed a tiny house to live in and operate her business of musical healing. She said she didn't need a toilet, kitchen or running water in her tiny house. Have these people been brainwashed so badly to be green that they think living in a tiny house is going to make them feel better about themselves? I just don't get it. I would fake being healed just to get out of that tiny structure and away from the tree hugging dirt worshiper.
I want a tiny house because I really only need the essentials under a roof. I would spend the rest of my time in the woods. No need to have a luxurious house if you are never going to be there. Mine would be more or less a cabin in the woods, none of that green stuff.
Well if they are going to pay that much for a tiny house, I'll rent out my processing shed. Its 512 square feet, and it even has running water and air conditioning
I wouldn't do that, you'll never get that stink out...besides you'll need that to deal with all the deer you put down for the contest.
I watched a few episodes of that too and really don't get it either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I want to live in a 200 square foot house made of Lexan so I can be part of this "cool" movement and prove that you can indeed live in a glass house and throw stones.
I know of a local guy building a small frame tiny home....egh whatever. If I ever can afford a piece of land I plan on renovating/building a small shed like structure into a small cabin with a loft sleeping spot....but to live entirely, I'm not sure I could do that. Unless it was in the wild!!!!
We have thousands of those tiny houses in Minnesota, they are used for ice fishing. No sexy hipster movement it has been around for years.
For day to day living, no f'n way. For weekend getaways and hunting etc? Sign me up!!! I personally have no issue with green living where it makes sense to do so, but I'm not going to do those things unless there is a financial benefit to it, even if that benefit is several years out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I get the whole cabin in the woods deal, and I could understand it if you lived that lifestyle. Like the weirdo's from Alaskan Bush People or Alaska the Last Frontier, but these freaks just seem to want to be trendy and prove to everyone how "green" they are. The one lady that said she didn't need running water in the house made me laugh, I bet she has never in her life crapped in an outhouse, probably wouldn't even step foot in a porta-potty.
If I had my choice it would be a tiny house in the middle of hundreds of acres. It would have electricity, and indoor plumbing with a bathroom. Just no neighbors of the human type.
I agree with you. I don't like big houses because I don't need a big house. I just want enough space to my things away without cluttler. Anything bigger is just more to clean when it gets dirty.
There's a difference between living simply in a small house, and what these folks are trying to do. Living in 250-300 sq. feet is taking to a whole nother level.
Some people want to be more creative, while still living simply. You can create an amazing tiny house for $25k. Sure...one could just live in a trailer or a camper, but some like a more customized space. I think it would be fun to build one and if I was single, I could most certainly live in 300 sq ft. And most of the ones you see are not for full time residence. Go on airbnb and you will see plenty of tiny houses for rent. People build them to put in their backyards for extra income. Since they are on trailers, they do not require all the codes and permits that permanent structures do.
I don't think it's all that crazy, I'm just not interested. Everyone finds a hobby to get into in one way or another, ours is the outdoors. There's is living in doll houses. To each their own.
