Alright so I decided I am going to get back into archery after about a 3 year stint of not having a bow. I went down to the local bow shop and am looking at mid-level bows. I have narrowed my choice down to 2 bows. There is a used Hoyt Rampage XT(299) in pretty good shape. Or a Mission Venture brand new(399). Ive spent quite a bit of time researching the two and both are excellent bows and lots of people like both. It's a toss up for me. Basically just trying to decide whether I risk a used bow that won't have a warranty. Any thoughts? Both bare bows
Mission man myself. Up to how it feels in your hand, how it shoots, and your confidence in it. Welcome and good luck.
Haven't shot either of those bows, so I'm no help there, but seems like the hoyt would be a lil closer to being ready to hunt with $100 worth of accessories. Just sayin
Noticed you are from Central KY, me too, I'm just getting back into bow hunting and looking for advice, I'll buy you a good cup of coffee for advise!! ;-)
If you plan on this being a bow you are going to keep for a while, of those I would go with the new bow with the warranty. If the idea is to get something cheap while you try to get back into shooting with the plan to get something in a year or so, I'd go with the cheaper one. Assuming they both feel good to you shooting them.
You should definitely shoot them both. You may be surprised what you find out, and then your decision may be an easier one. Good luck!
I haven't shot either, but have heard great things about both. What is comes down to is which one can you afford, and which one feels better in your hand.
I think it all comes down to how it feels in your hands and how it shoots. I bought a used bow a few season ago and have had great luck with it. If you are buying from a reputable shop it shouldn't be a problem. I shoot a mission and love it.
