I have a friend that turkey hunts and he washes his clothes only once a season as to keep them from fading (just his hunting clothes) with deer hunting I know that scent is key...so I usually wash mine every few trips.....what yall suggest???

What ever is next to my skin I wash every time I use it. My outer layers I will only wash if I have done alot of sweating. I usually don't wear my outer layers while walking to and from my stand. And I don't put them on until I have cooled off from my walk in. That helps with not getting them all sweaty. So unless I've done a lot of sweating or gotten them dirty, I will only wash them weekly.

    Blessings...........Pastorjim

base layers every hunt, sometimes mid layers too, but outer layers I may wash 1x a month, unless they get muddy or bloody.

The first month of our season is in the 80's and 90's. I'll wash them after every hunt during that time. When it's cold I'll usually wash less frequently.

I was certainly thinking this, but wasn't about to say it, mainly because I can't trust my eve to not wash them with Tide Ultra clean UV brightener super fragrant lavender scented detergent. She knows not to wash or otherwise touch my hunting clothes. I just tell her they are tick infected & bloody (even when I don't kill anything lol!) and that's enough for her to not go near them...

to the OP - much the same as others... base layers after every use. outer only if they are actually dirty - blood, mud, etc, but I do spray them with scent reducing sprays (I'm not loyal to a brand - whatever is on sale) before every hunt.

LOL yep, I typically only go near the washer thingy when it breaks and Eve wants it working again BUT I do wash my hunting clothes for the same reasons you mentioned. I wash in baking soda and hang dry. Outer layers only as needed, under layers after each use / day.

Probably not as often as I should but I didn't get busted last year so I must be doing something alright.

If I asked my wife to wash my hunting clothes she would use the most flowery or stinky detergent she could find just for spite since I didn't wash them myself :) .

When I get back from hunting, I wash my hunting clothes. Especially in the early season because it's warm and I'll sweat. I use scent free detergent, I put it in a plasic zip lock bag with some dirt and leaves from the area I hunt in, and keep it in my truck. When I go hunt, I spray myself down, get my hunting clothes on before I step off into the woods. When I arrive at my stand, I spray myself off again, and I wait.

Baselayers are washed everyday. Outer shell hang outside and wash couple times a week. I don't wear my outer camo walking in or out either.

My wife is awesome and likes deer meat... she uses scent the free detergent on my stuff. She even wipes down the inside of the machine and runs a bit of water threw it and spins it out to make sure there is as little of other detergents left over from previous loads as possible before doing my hunting clothes. I love my wife!

I shower before every hunt, I have a base sock T shirt and underwear combo and the towel I use to dry off is washed in scent free soap and sealed with the base layer for every hunt. Base layers and anything touching your skin is fresh every time. Outer camo is every 3-4th hunt.

She also helps track, drag and process the deer meat... lucky isnt the word!

Hope to help her take her first deer this year (with a gun). She will be tickled pink when she lays the smack down on one!

Did I mention I love my wife? :o

thanks guys....my wife likes the smell of the fresh earth system.....I use DDW on all my clothes...but I use the unscented...I just like the idea of having no scent better...but I like the idea of everyday on the skin touching and the once a week on the outter layers...
