Sorry about the date on the first picture. Its my sons Camera I don't know how to fix the date. The time is right. Besides the deer are not near that high in January :moose:

Thanks, The deer took me off guard. He just showed up this week. I really hope my boy can connect with one of these bulls. Success ratio is only 29% on the archery hunt in this area.

I'd take 29%...our unit in CO has averaged 8% success for archery since 2003...yikes:) Archery state wide in CO is only 13% over same time period...

...it could be 1% and I'd still go, I got it too bad now:)

Once your hooked your Septembers are always planned
I shouldn't complain. As you guys know an elk with a bow is trophy in its self. I have been really blessed with the animals I have been able to take over the years

Now, now, Oldcarp, don't be leading these boys on. We both know that there's nothing but desert and rattlesnakes in utah.

Surely those pictures are from Idaho. :)

Tag your antelope early and come over. I'll find you some snakes up the canyon.

Beautiful country! Best of luck connecting on one of those great animals.

You guys talking about the low success rates are damping my enthusiasm for making a trip out there...at least with my bow. Would likely take my rifle just to better my odds (but we know that wouldn't be as rewarding).

That is one of my dreams to go elk hunting. Doesn't matter if I get get one. Just hearing a bull screaming is amazing.

Nice pics. We are planning on taking some trail cams out now. Not sure why we didn't think about this before. Hope to get some good pics and share.

Leaving Iowa Aug 29th for Idaho. Start hunting Aug 30 - Sept 11. Lots of time to get something down. Either sex tag and will shoot first thing I can. I want some elk meat.
