For those that don't know the story on Gimp....he's a buck that I first saw in 2011 taking my wife hunting for her first time. A little basket-racked 2.5 year old was walking down the hill directly at us and I noticed he was limping. I was videoing the hunt and zoomed in to see that his foot was turned in and he was pretty much walking on the first joint of his leg. I assumed it was broke so I told my wife to shoot him. He caught her moving and trotted off. I didn't see him again and just kind of forgot about him. On a late season bowhunt in 2013, I saw a 140 class 8-point dogging a doe...limping. After reviewing the footage later that night I discovered, much to my surprise, it was him. I thought, "how in the world did this gimped up buck make it the last couple years, much less become a stud." So he got the name Gimp. I got a few pics of him with my Browning Trail Cameras in February of 2014 and he disappeared. In August of 2014, I got another pic and gone once again. On November 2nd, I got a pic of him visiting a mock scrape. I set up on him on the 4th and had him at 60 yards coming my way until a doe began blowing at my decoy and he was gone as fast as he came. He skirted me two more times during bow season, but I was able to take him during gun season. It was a great hunt and I'll probably never kill a deer that's more special than this ole boy.

With the story behind him, I decided to do a half body mount. My taxidermist recommended doing very little habitat on the base to feature his foot. I think it turned out pretty awesome.

My oldest son took his biggest buck last year as well. I asked him if he wanted to put his on the wall with mine. He said he wanted to start his own wall. ;)

He is a stud, the double throat patch makes him even cooler. Must be a failry common thing around your area because it look like at least one other on on the wall has the same type of very light double patch (maybe a third one further sown the line also).

That is fantastic! Nice job man. If your willing i'd be curious to see a video how he walked. That looks so awkward and painful.
