So one of the leases I'm on this year just doesn't have a ton of trees. There are some, but there are also some fantastic spots to hunt there that just don't have any trees close by. As much as I hate it, I'm going to have to use a ground blind some this year........ It's been a long time since I've used one. What are some quality options without breaking the bank? I really don't want to spend $400+ on this if I don't have to......
I bought one of them that has the window screens you can shoot the arrow thru....it was $100 at walmart and I mainly got it for my wife cause she aint fond of heights. but we used it gun hunting and I love it and at $100 it aint to badly priced
I have a primos club blind. Roomy enough for me and I can almost stand in the middle and I'm about 5'9". It was priced for $80 when I got it and they usually go for about $130 from what I've seen.
I bought mine off sportsman guide its the gear guide brand paid $70 and I love it. I love being in the tree also but cant knock a blind after killing the biggest buck to date out of one last year in Kansas.
I hate hunting from the ground. I've used several different kinds of ground blinds over the years though, they work ok. I've never had one that was terrible, most were comparable in usefulness in spite of being in different price ranges. The last one I bought was a big one from a local farm supply store and it's pretty nice, I think it was like $120 or something and is like a full 6'x6'. I wouldn't spend top dollar on one based on what I've seen from a fairly wide range of them over the years. They all get wind whipped, tore, etc...
I have been looking at the Barronett Big Mike XL because of the 84" height. $189 at Amazon I think. Anyone with experience with this one.
I have couple ASAT reaper blinds. They work as well as anything else I used in the ground blind deportment. I they retail about 200.
I have a Barronett Big Mike and for the money I don't think you can beat it. The best part is it being tall enough to shoot standing up. They come in 80 and 84in tall. Blessings...........Pastorjim
I bought a True Timber this spring for turkey and do not like it. The material is kind of shiny and it's very noisy setting up because of the material. I also cut out the mesh windows, I did some practicing and did not like shooting my bow through it. My friend has a Double Bull and it's awesome. Very quiet and fast to set up with plenty of room inside.
I have also been looking for new blinds, and am really thinking about buying a Browning Phantom X. I haven't seen one other than pics, but it looks like a nice blind to me.
Rhino Xp-1 is the best out there for a reasonable price IMO...$199 and its just like the Double Bull.
Trust me, I hate them too. But if you saw the deer I had on cam on this farm you would sit in one too for a crack at them.
I've used a Primos Vision blind for a few years. I don't sit in a ground blind too often, but I use it with my daughter for youth season. I will also use it in the late season during those really cold days. Light up the Mr. Heater and I can get several more hunting hours out of the day. Just don't leave it out all the time, especially if you get snow. I've broken two of the poles because we had heavy snows, then yo-yo'd back and forth between freezing and above freezing temps. Melted the snow, turned to ice and eventually the weight was too much and snapped the rods. FYI, if this does happen, you can replace them with fiberglass electric fence posts from the local farm store. I'm also in the market for a new blind since my zipper also broke on it.
I just ordered a ghost blind, the one on the right. Pretty cool concept with mirrors to reflect the immediate ground. A little more pricey that a standard ground blind but hopefully it works out!
Any recommendations on some for a taller guy (6'4" with 6'8" wingspan)? I'm looking to upgrade the one I have left. It is decent but nowhere near as much room as id like to be able to draw comfortably. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I got a double bull dark horse and to be honest I don't like it. The top keeps collapsing and the elastic material that holds the windows up broke. For the price I expected more.
