We get to start bear baiting next Saturday and setting stands and cameras. I am pretty excited to see what we get on camera this year. Bought a bunch of stuff today for baiting, plus we have access to bread and popcorn 1200 pounds of Granola 640 pounds of praline pecans 55 gallon drum of trail mix 500 pounds of white doughnut icing 30 gallons of honey roasted peanuts 300 pounds of white and chocolate frosting 100 pounds of butterscotch crunch 100 pounds of marshmallow peeps 350 pounds of fruit snacks 150 pounds of licorice
Some from Lucky 7 I have also bought from a couple places in WI the last few years. Depends on what they have and what I want to use.
I bought 5 barrels of cookies. $40.00 a barrel if you have your own. Best price I have seen. Had some granola left from last year. Might need a couple more of that before season end.
Holy cow....speaking of, hoe did you gigantic post season deer pile go? I maybe missed the pics off of it?
We got a lot of pictures and the deer hit it hard. I think it helped quite a bit and kept them really healthy. Our bucks have gotten some good jumps from last year and I am sure that had something to do with it.
That is for personal. I do not outfit for anyone technically and don't charge anyone that will be hunting it. There are a few people invited up to hunt with me. I most likely will not even hunt it myself but my 2 kids and some friends will. Hopefully they get to shoot some nice ones this year.
OK, that much feed for a personal bear bait seems excessive (and expensive...)for me... All I need is a barrel of scrap meat from the local butcher and 10 gallons of waste French fries oil.. all for free, got 7 bears so far and only cost me a couple cases of beer for the butcher...
In MN you can have up to 3 baits per hunter. Some guys like to bait heavy. Especially if they can't bait more than once or twice a week. What zone you in Tom?
There will be hopefully 6 baits going and you can end up baiting for over a month. If you go to the right places that sell bear bait it is actually pretty reasonable. We will be set up on public ground in the no quota area because neither of my kids drew a tag.
Picked up about half of it today and another buddy has the rest. Made my son and his friend that will be hunting with us help unload it. As soon as it was in the garage they started eating marshmallow peeps. Hopefully there will be some left after the neighbor kids find out they are in there. The last time I had a 55 gallon drum of fruit snacks every time I came home one of them were in it
