has anybody ever used the step adapter that you attach to a cordless drill ? do you have to hammer the step in to get it started ? or do you just put the step in the adapter and screw away ? I just purchased one and will be trying it out one day this week

I've used it and it works pretty well. I would drill a pilot hole first, then install with the drill. I haven't used it in years though. I don't do screw in steps very often any more.

I read bad reviews so I decided not to get one. Let us know how it works. Pilot holes are a bad idea IMO but I guess if you do drill one make it really small and thin. You don't want that step coming out and getting impaled on the steps below.

i going to try pilot hole as well as taking a hammer and just getting it started in the tree a lil bit. I hate screw in steps how ever this particular tree and the location of it. Screw in steps are my only option. I got it started Friday afternoon got 8 steps in by hand before pooping out in the 107 degree heat index we had. suppose to have a couple days this week with a High of only 89 degrees, so going take advantage of them days to get it finished. Its the last set I have left to hang, and I will be done for the year besides planting my oats and peas :D

Trust me. Use Cranford EZ steps and you can start them with two fingers... You'll wonder how all the rest of the junk in the step industry sells.
