I know this is gunna vary for everybody but what are your essentials things you never leave into the woods with out? for me it's a grunt tube my knife, bow(obviously), safety harness and a limb saw. What are you guys carrying?
Thermacell for early season and hand warmers for late. Also have the obvious knife, cell phone, calls depending on the time, scents for rut, and scent kapture spray
Field dressing kit, (knives ,gloves, bags, rags, 550 cord, drag rope). Grunt tube, bleat can, compass, flashlight, headlamps. Phone. Few other odds and ends depending on weather or the hunt
Extra release, calls, pruners, folding saw, head light, & flashlight. Knife, linemans rope, scents, scent wicks, TP, folding allen wrench set, bottle of water. Gloves, license, extra pair of glasses, camera, & zip ties. Probably more that I'm forgetting. May not need it but it's there if I do.
I carry much of what has been mentioned plus cell phone, SPOT emergency satellite beacon, and small medical kit. I hunt alone most the time and it takes just one misstep to be in the hurt locker.
calls, license, knife, extra CLOTHES, gps, food, drink, flashlight, batteries, bow rope, screw in hook, bow arm, hand warmers, sometimes a tree umbrella, binos
Rope, TP, knife, zip lock bag for the heart, a few zip ties, something to drink, food if it is an all day hunt, flashlight, tree steps, linemans strap, and sometimes the sidearm ends up in my bag if I don't feel like carrying that day. Depending on where I am hunting, the range finder. I'm sure I missed something but that is the majority of it.
Lunch/drink, hand saw, any calls, thermal/refills, bag, emergency rain poncho, usually a spare layer. Head lamp goes in bag after I'm in the stand. Rope stays on my stand. Havalon on the belt as does any side arm if I carry.
Licenses (both PA and OH), old drivers license, knife, hand saw, grunt tube, hand warmers if it's cold, bow hanger, field dress kit (gloves, paper towels & wipes, zip ties, pen for filling out tag) harness (I just keep it in there so I can never forget it), tree rope, bow pull up rope, range finder, LED flashlight, clip on hat light, release, gloves. I used to carry space blanket and fire starter but now days I am never more than a mile or so from the truck at most. In cold weather I stuff extra layers. Plus I always carry at least water and a snack.
Ozonics, extra release, knifes, calls, first aid kit, extra hoist rope, string wax, thermacell, screw in bow holders, rain jacket, portable cell phone charger, extra trail cam batteries, and more I am sure im leaving out. lol my pack is heavy
Hunting License and Big Game Permit, .45 cal Glock 30, Private Property Hunting Permission Letter, 2 Releases, bottled water, Thermacell, Rangefinder, Windchecker, Grunt Tube, Rattling Antlers, Cellphone, Flashlight, Extra Batteries (for Cameras and Flashlight), Dead Down Wind Scent Eliminating Spray, Handwarmers, Gloves, Scent free wash cloth. All my camera gear is in another bag. Anything else I leave in the truck.
My pack will have a variety of supplies but if we are talking essentials, I never go archery whitetail hunting without my rangefinder and grunt tube. Without these i feel naked. I called half a dozen bucks in last year with my grunt tube. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
Knife, grunt calls, binos, scent wicks, scent, acorn cover scent, dead down wind spray, wind checker, phone, firearm safety certificate, tags and zip ties.
I carry a backpack that has range finder, zip ties, license, pen, zip lock bag in case of rain, toilet paper, rain gear, extra gloves, face net, knife, flashlight, limb saw, camera arm, extra camera batteries, extra release, marking ribbon, water, some kind of snack, video camera and depending on the weather a jacket. Typically I dress lighter to walk to the stand and carry a jacket in my bag. I'm sure I carry more than this into the woods but these items all came to mind for this post.
To the guys saying safety harness.....UM PUT THE DANG THING ON...DON'T WAIT TO PUT IT ON. Family thanks you in advance.
Duh. Mine stays in my pack so I cannot forget to take it. It goes on before I walk away from the truck.
My pack seems to have a few less things in it each year. I used to carry every piece of gear I had in that thing until I realized I didn't need 90% of it. There's a few must haves for me. - Extra tree strap w/carabiner. Never know when you're going to need it, and makes a handy deer drag at times. - Extra bow hanger & gear hooks. - Extra pair of gloves. - Extra release - Tink's Hot Shot of some sort. Flavor varies with the season. - Face paint - SD card case and a set of AA batteries for checking cameras on the way in or out. - Grunt call - Disposable hand warmers - License/tags and zip ties - Knife - Wicked Hand Saw - Headlamp Seems like a lot but it's all small stuff so it doesn't take up a lot of space or weigh much. That job is handled by the camera gear. - Tree arm w/fluid head and LANC controller - Main camera - Shotgun mic - Extra main camera batteries - Additional screw mount for 2nd angle camera - 2nd angle camera & extra batteries
